Gardening with mom
Today I spent the whole day with my mother. I had promised her that once the weather got warmer, I would help her with her garden. I like gardening. I used to have a big garden and I was taking care of it, all by myself. I really enjoyed it. I found it relaxing. It helped me get rid of all the stress I accumulated during the week.
Now that I live in a condo, I miss having plants and working outside, being in contact with Mother Nature. Thus, I woke up around seven and drove to my mom’s. She lives in Brossard. Before leaving the house, my husband reminded me I had to pick up the Window awnings Longueuil. He had called the company yesterday, and they weren’t ready. They asked him to pass by today in order to pick them up.
My husband invited me to have breakfast with him, but I had to decline his invitation, as I knew my mother was waiting for me and that she had prepared a feast. I asked hubby to join us, but he replied that he wasn’t ready to leave the house yet.
On the way to her, I stopped over at Canadian Tire to buy some enriched soil and some flowers, along with the trellis for the tomatoes. I couldn’t believe how many people were shopping so early. I guess all of them got inspired by the warm weather and they were anxious to get their hands dirty with soil.
Once I got to my mother’s house, I parked the van on her driveway, really close to the backyard gate. Then I took out one by one all the bags of soil and carried them all the way in the back yard. When I got to the flowers, mom was already outside, near my van, trying to take out the pots from my trunk.
She greeted me and gave me a hugg, saying that breakfast was ready. She added that all this could have waited. We could have taken everything out of my van after we ate. I replied that I did not want her to lift any heavy weight. Her answer came promptly: “That’s why you try to kill yourself, Hercules?”
I burst into laughter as soon as I heard her. She always had a keen sense of humour. It was great to see that age did not affect her spirit.
