The date

The date - Karen Parisi

While I was going to pick up mysummer curtain Longueuil I got a phone call from my ex. Although we separated, we are still in good terms. Maybe because I always felt that our story did not end, we just took a pause. Currently we live continent aparts. There is an ocean between us, but that does not prevent us from chatting each second day. I was thinking that we are probably more in touch now then we used to be before.

It’s funny how distance can bring people together or how it just makes you say things bluntly. I guess it has something to do with the fact that you are not in close proximity with the other and see things more objectively. I am not sure about this theory. Point is, more I chat or talk with him, more I realize that I want him back.

We truly are kindred souls and I hope that one day we will manage to continue this story. I am not that happy with the fact that we left it hanging. We both agreed that we have feelings for each other, though we never discussed actions. We love each other and know more things about the other then all of the friends or any other family member.

From the moment we met, we had this flow of sincerity. We never lied or tried to modified the other’s life. We accepted him the way he was, without asking to change his ways. This freedom made the relationship flourish and allowed us to open more and touch painful topics, open old wounds and can worms we had sealed years ago.

Within the past months we always used Whatsapp to send each other text or voice message. Today he called. That was unusual. I was thrilled to hear his voice and have a conversation in real time.

I answered the call and greeted him on my sweetest voice. He had me at hello. He asked how was my day and what were my plans for the evening. I could not help myself and I inquired if he was interested in taking me out. Then I burst into laughter, saying he did not have to answer to that, because he was across the ocean, and that could have not happen anyway.

It turned out that the joke was on me. Once he was done laughing, he said that he was back in the city and yes, he did wanted to see me.
